Celebrating 20 Years of The Way to Salad

MIXT turned twenty this past April, marking two decades since we opened our first location in the heart of San Francisco. To celebrate, we spent the month looking back at the community that built us, collaborating with the local institutions and neighborhood staples that define the city’s unique character.

We wanted our anniversary to feel like a true SF collaboration. We teamed up with the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory for custom fortunes (opens a new tab) and worked with Muni to release limited-edition stickers and giveaways (opens a new tab), celebrating the transit system that keeps our city connected.

Since health and movement are core to the MIXT DNA, we partnered with Sports Basement and the Bay to Breakers community. Together, we hosted a community run that brought people out of the office (opens a new tab) and onto the pavement, highlighting the active spirit of the Bay Area.

No anniversary would be complete without a tribute to the flavors that started it all. For a limited time, we brought back the Cowboy Salad, a fan favorite from our very first menu days that reminded us why we fell in love with chef-crafted greens in the first place.

While we spent the month celebrating our history, we’re also looking at the city we call home today. San Francisco has changed a lot since 2006—from the skyline to the rising cost of a midday meal. Our goal for the next 20 years remains the same: staying true to our SF roots by providing chef-crafted, sustainable food that fuels this city, no matter how the landscape changes.
