At MIXT, we’re always thinking of ways to positively impact our community and push ourselves to do better everyday. That means keeping sustainability front and center in our everyday operations, providing fresh and organic produce to our customers, and working with local communities to build a greener tomorrow.
It’s why we’re incredibly excited to announce our partnership with the Francisco Park Conservancy, an organization working to bring more green space to our hometown of San Francisco. In the northeast corner of the city sits an expansive and undeveloped 4.5-acre property which was once Francisco Reservoir. The land has been vacant and underutilized since 1940, and remains one of the last large and unused pieces of land in a major city anywhere in the world. The Francisco Park Conservancy, and their partners in the project, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, are collaborating with neighbors, environmentalists, city leaders, non-profit organizations, and companies like MIXT, to transfer the former reservoir into a new park — Francisco Park — that will provide 84,000 square feet of public space with incredible views of San Francisco Bay, an abundance of native plants and trees, a community garden, children’s playground, and dog run!
